Where's our Song?

I watched Green Street Hooligans the other night and with a few empty Newcastles clattering beside me and the recent FLC National Championship Victory still fresh in my mind, I had a strange sort of epiphany.  First off, it's a pretty good movie, and any fan of the English Premier League should give it a good watch through, but watching all of the thug fans (and "fan" seems a huge understatement), I realized that they had a very significant West Ham Theme Song.  And I thought, "where the hell is our song?"  Any team who has two National Championships and two National Runner's Up's in the last ten years needs a quality theme song.  I apologize in advance if anyone feels that we already do have a song, but if we do, I don't know it and the kind of song read more »

Although I do wish that I could have been in Tampa, “The Pub’s” not a bad place to watch a NCAA Div II National semi-final match.  Free coffee and juice, gracious wait staff, and a very cozy feel are only a few of the amenities to be found down in the Irish Embassy’s comfortable dungeon.  And the food is authentic as well.  I put in a brief, three month stretch of hitchhiking all around that little island when I graduated from college, and I must say that the pub food in Ireland is just as greasy and bland as it is here at the Embassy.  I don’t mean to say that the food is unpleasant by any means, quite the opposite actually.  On a cold December Durango morning, it was just what the doctor ordered; read more »

Never in the History of Soccer has there been such sheer domination by an underdog team as there was in tonight's Durango City Leauge 6 V 6 soccer Championship. El Chupacabra consisting of myself, Shane Thorson, Phil Debolt, my bro Joe Kaltenback, Piper, Jake, Paul, Ben Jamine, Jeff, Kevin, scott, and sometimes Damian absolutely took the piss out of the National Champions. Due to terribly poor team management, Ska (FLC) for some reason thought that the game was to be played at 7:00p.m. when the actual scheduled time was 6:00. El Chupa decided agianst the option of recieving the Cup due to forfit and chose to quickly notify the college imbeciles. The youngsters should have just stayed home.  read more »

I've got a team full of youngsters counting on me to lead them to victory in the Gaylord Shepard Tourney in Albequerqe this weekend (not to mention the parents), but I really want to cheer on the boys up at the fort in the First Round! Talked to "the Ledgend" last night with Kato chiming in whenever he felt like it, and we decided that the resposible thing to do was to coach the team to a win and loss in the first round, thus setting up a semi-final game at 9:00 A.M with the top team from the other bracket which with some STRATEGIC SUBSTITUTIONS, I feel quite confident I could keep us out of the final, allowing myself just enough time to race back to Durango about midway through the first half.  read more »
