I originally intended to write about how special a soccer organization must be if an ex-FLC goaltender, J.R. Fischer (1994-1995) is willing to withstand a Nutz weekend and a two way total of 12+ hrs driving to boisterously participate on the sideline of one Sky-Hawk National Quarter Final Match Cal State LA.
Or maybe I’d implore willing readers to understand that there is obviously something very special about a soccer program that has the capability to inspire Mr. and Mrs. Donely to celebrate their wedding anniversary by driving across two states for cocktails with a bunch of Helmuts in El Rancho bar before a big game. read more »
I was ordering a Bloody Mary at the West side of El Rancho’s sticky bar when I heard a loud thump on the floor near the entry. Cheers and unrestrained applause erupted as I turned to see the young waiter from the Durango Diner roll onto his right shoulder and stand gracefully with three undisturbed plates of bacon and sausage “Cures” in his arms. (If you’ve never tried the Diner’s token breakfast, “The Cure” is a fantastic plate of green slop and grease and cheese powerful enough to squelch the most stubborn of even Yoshi’s hangovers.) Laughter and joy resonated through the room as the waiter distributed the rations out to Eisee and friends. On his way out, amidst chants of “Chug, Chug, Chug”, the waitron stood in the doorway and read more »
The boys dismanteled Metro Today. It's unfortunate that Metro's only two shots on goal found the back of the net but the better team absolutely prevailed today. I would have to guess that possesion went 72% Ft. Lewis and 18% Metro.
I feel that the momentum is changing.

I watched Green Street Hooligans the other night and with a few empty Newcastles clattering beside me and the recent FLC National Championship Victory still fresh in my mind, I had a strange sort of epiphany. First off, it's a pretty good movie, and any fan of the English Premier League should give it a good watch through, but watching all of the thug fans (and "fan" seems a huge understatement), I realized that they had a very significant West Ham Theme Song. And I thought, "where the hell is our song?" Any team who has two National Championships and two National Runner's Up's in the last ten years needs a quality theme song. I apologize in advance if anyone feels that we already do have a song, but if we do, I don't know it and the kind of song read more »
Although I do wish that I could have been in Tampa, “The Pub’s” not a bad place to watch a NCAA Div II National semi-final match. Free coffee and juice, gracious wait staff, and a very cozy feel are only a few of the amenities to be found down in the Irish Embassy’s comfortable dungeon. And the food is authentic as well. I put in a brief, three month stretch of hitchhiking all around that little island when I graduated from college, and I must say that the pub food in Ireland is just as greasy and bland as it is here at the Embassy. I don’t mean to say that the food is unpleasant by any means, quite the opposite actually. On a cold December Durango morning, it was just what the doctor ordered; read more »
