A little Clarification...
I didn’t know that my blog from yesterday could cause so much discussion. While I did act by contacting the Durango Herald, FLC Presidents Office, FLC Athletic Department, FLC Director of the Foundation/Development, other alumni, etc. in regards to the radio debacle I did take a minute to write about it on the web site (what I thought the blog was for). This was done with the intention to bring to light the lack of preparation by FLC Athletic Department, not to discredit community members who had to do the Athletic Departments jobs at the last minute. In regards to the "crew" comment it was not a slam to anyone, it was said only to identify persons involved in the fundraising circle, and the people responsible for the airtime decision/allocation of funds. I was alarmed when it was stated by the Athletic Department that the broadcasting decisions were not in their hands. And that’s it - the comment was made out of frustration with the FLC Athletic Department not doing their jobs and relying on persons in this community to come up with the funds, and to make the decisions regarding the College Athletic Teams. Where were the efforts of Kent Stanley and the rest of the Athletic Department to raise the money needed to cover both the men’s and women’s games? Why didn’t the Athletic Department stand up and solve the problem instead of washing their hands of the situation? I applaud the effort made by the community members to get at least one game on the radio, but why didn’t the Athletic Department do their job and get both teams covered, funded and broadcast? This should be a joint effort to bring to the forefront the lack of preparation, budgeting, and planning by the FLC Athletic Department. NOT a division between who did what, said what, and who deserves the credit. As was mentioned actions speak louder than words, so lets stop going back in forth with each other over the little things and make our actions together count! Thank you to Phil and John for volunteering their time and enthusiasm over the years to get FLC Soccer out there and heard! Best of luck to the men today and women on Friday, kick some butt!
